Breast Reduction & Breast Lift – briefly explained

If you wish for a firmer breast shape again, a breast lift follows essentially the same principle as a breast reduction. The procedure takes approximately two hours and is performed under general anaesthesia. Typically, the hospital stay lasts 1 to 3 days.

If you feel your breasts are too large or burdensome, a breast reduction can give you smaller, lighter, and firmer breasts. Glandular tissue, fat, and skin are removed from the lower part of the breast. Additionally, the areola is reduced in size and repositioned upwards.

Surgical techniques

Several surgical techniques are available. An incision always runs around the areola to reposition it upward. Sensitivity and breastfeeding ability are preserved. An additional incision runs vertically from the nipple downward, and a horizontal one along the breast fold where the breast meets the chest wall.

Procedure & hospital stay

The breast reduction takes approximately four hours and is performed under general anaesthesia. The procedure typically requires a hospital stay of 1 to 3 days.

About the Procedure

Pre-op Preparation

A mammography is mandatory. Please avoid aspirin and other blood-thinning medications 14 days before surgery. Significantly reduce alcohol and smoking 2–3 weeks before and after the procedure.
