Male Circumcision

Reasons for male circumcision can include hygienic considerations, religious beliefs and in some cases medical reasons.

During the procedure, the foreskin is removed and the shaft skin is sutured below the glans. The operation can be performed under local anaesthesia with numbing of the entire penis, allowing the patient to go home immediately after the procedure. General anaesthesia is also available upon request.

After the operation, the penis is wrapped in sterile gauze. On the second day, the dressing is removed, the area is showered and treated with antibiotic/antiseptic ointment and fresh sterile gauze. Daily dressing changes are carried out for 14 days. Self-dissolving sutures generally make removal unnecessary; if they have not dissolved after 18 days, removal is recommended.
