LIP CORRECTION AND LIP AUGMENTATION

Temporary lip augmentation

In case of temporary lip augmentation, synthetic materials or the patient’s body fat are used as filling material. The patient’s body fat is removed from the subcutis. The filling is then applied to the lip using an injection. The material dissolves slowly and after one year the procedure must be repeated.

Permanent lip augmentation

A permanent enlargement can be achieved by a surgical procedure using the surrounding tissue. During this procedure, some incisions are made in the area of the inner side of the lips, so that the scars are not visible after the operation. By loosening, shifting and subsequent suturing of the tissue on the inner side of the lips, their enlargement is achieved, which is permanent.

MAIN FACTS ABOUT LIP AUGMENTATION AT A GLANCE

  • Anaesthesia: local (in case of outpatient treatment) or general anaesthesia (in connection with another surgery)
  • Stitches: dissolvable (after approx. 10 days); should the stitches not dissolve after 14 days they have to be removed manually
  • The swelling and bruises fade away after 1 week.
  • After the surgery: cooling the lip with ice; pureed food recommended for 3 days (rinse out the mouth with a chamomile solution or water after eating)
